Wells receives 31 acres of conservation land from golf course

Wells Golf Holdings LLC has donated a 31-acre parcel of conservation land off Horace Mills and Quarry roads to the town in lieu of paying $2,169 in back taxes on the property. January 20, 2011 Selectmen voted 5-0 on Tuesday, Jan. 11, to waive taxes due by accepting the land as a donation, which Board of Selectman Chairman Bob Foley said had been the property owner's intent since purchasing the land in 2007. The land has a fair market value of $59,680 according to the transfer tax declaration.
