The company, Gibraltar Rock, announced Tuesday that it had sold the land to Somerset County in a transaction early last month. The $3.9 million deal marks the third time in about two years in which the county has bought a piece of the quarry, which straddles Hillsborough and Montgomery, for preservation under the state Green Acres program.
