New Jersey gets federal funding to preserve 140 acres in Middle Township

More than 140 acres of privately owned, undeveloped wetlands in Middle Township near the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge will be purchased by the state for conservation, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Wednesday. January 05, 2012 The federal agency is contributing $1 million in grant money toward the $2.2 million purchase price; $1.2 million of existing Green Acres money also will be used to purchase the saltwater marsh and upland, a news release states.
