Pyramid Mountain grows by 61 acres

A 61-acre undeveloped parcel in the township that will expand access to Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area has been preserved, state and county officials announced Wednesday. May 13, 2011 The land along Rockaway Valley Road, known as Ellinwood Forrest, was purchased for $1.2 million on March 30 as a partnership between several agencies: $850,000 came from the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders through a Morris County Preservation Trust Fund grant; the Morris County Park Commission provided $150,000; and $200,000 in New Jersey Green Acres funding came via Boonton Township and the Trust for Public Land, according to a prepared statement from the Trust for Public Land.
