NY announces $5M deal to purchase 99 wooded acres

New York officials say they have reached a $5 million agreement to purchase 99 wooded acres of land in the Long Island pine barrens. April 23, 2011 State Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens made his first official visit to Suffolk County on Friday to announce the deal. The Middle Island property is west of Cathedral Pines County Park, near the Carmans River.
