The McDowell County Commissioners voted 3-2 Monday to purchase the old Universal Bedroom Furniture property for $2.55 million. The site, which includes a nearly 400,000-square-foot building and 315 acres of land, could be used for the long-term expansion needs of McDowell Technical Community College and provide space for small industries.
