Acreage around a North Carolina mountain, named after an early settlers ship, is about to be sold. Phoenix Mountain was named after the ship Phoenix that brought some of the settlers to the area. Located in a county named after Revolutionary War patriot Samuel Ashe, Phoenix Mountain was named after the ship that brought the mountain’s first settlers, the Ellers, from Germany in the 1800’s.
