USDA Recovery Act Easements to Restore More than 2100 Acres of Agricultural Land in North Dakota

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced the purchase of 17 floodplain protection easements for frequently-flooded agricultural land along the Red River in North Dakota. The easements, covering more than 2,100 acres in Pembina, Walsh and Traill counties, were purchased with funding provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) to restore floodplains and protect communities from economically devastating floods.
