City OKs land sale to county

A deal that’s been in the works for about 18 months came one step closer to reality Thursday when Wilmington City Council directed the mayor to sell 21 acres of fairground parking and camping area off South Nelson Avenue to the county for $200,000. December 16, 2010 The land, formerly owned by Textron, was acquired by the city of Wilmington this year through a brownfield revitalization grant from the state. For decades, Textron permitted the county to use the area for activities at the Clinton County Fairground.
