Grant would protect 116 acre property land features endangered plant life

The city is applying for a grant of nearly $1 million that would be used to protect 116 acres on property owned by Verna Beck on Route 303, and the plant life on it, from development. September 21, 2011 Mayor Art Scott announced the grant application Sept. 14 at a meeting of the Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce, saying he's "99.9 percent sure" the city would win the grant. "It's great," he said. "We have some endangered plant life over there and people from Kent State asking if they can go over and look at it. It's supposed to be some pretty intense stuff over there."
