Lake Metroparks' three park board members have approved buying property adjacent to the agency's Hell Hollow Wilderness Area in Leroy Township.

In all, 9 acres are involved and will cost $80,000. The additional property — called Hemlock Gorge — will enlarge that holding to 845 acres.

It will be bought from the Russell Township-based Western Reserve Land Conservancy, which had purchased a 121⁄2-acre parcel. The private land protection group will continue to own a home and 31⁄2 acres, which will likely be sold on the open market, said Lake Metroparks Vince Urbanski.
