A top Ohio State University Extension official will address topics related to farmland preservation and sustainability Friday in Newark.
Nancy Kirk Hall, director of Agricultural and Resource Law with the OSU Extension, will address tax incentives, agricultural zoning, potential funding mechanisms, pending legislation and CAUV at a meeting of the Licking County Agriculture for Tomorrow Committee.
The session will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Newark Public Library, 101 W. Main St.
The public is invited, particularly farmers, local government officials, realtors, and builders from Licking and surrounding counties, said Jurgen Pape of Granville, a committee member.
The Agriculture for Tomorrow Committee is a volunteer group sanctioned by the Licking County commissioners and was formed after the completion in 2001 of the state-wide farmland preservation task forces initiated in 1997.
The local committee's Web site is linked through www.lcounty.com/planning.
