LAND OWNERS AND FFA CHAPTER REAP BENEFITS AT RECORD SETTING LAND AUCTION

April 22, 2008
Northwest OK ----      Amidst recent propaganda of the nation-wide real estate crash and sub-prime lending woes Auctioneers and Land Specialists are setting record prices for real estate in rural America while giving back to organizations that support the future of our family farms.

Hunting Country Real Estate & Auction fired off a healthy second quarter on Friday in Northwest Oklahoma offering 800 acres of farmland for sale at public auction in the rural town of Burlington Oklahoma.  Participants at the auction included over 120 in attendance on location with additional absentee bidders, pre-registrants, and interested Buyers from 7 different states.

The family farms owned by the Frances Schupbach Trust were offered in separate quarter section tracts of approximately 160 acres each.  Winning bidders paid in excess of $1.5 Million on sale day confirming a solid real estate market for farmland.  10 Tracts of land were divided individually with 5 quarter sections of surface and 5 quarter sections of minerals.  Anticipation of a well-rounded finish for the day proved successful as the 10 different tracts were purchased by 9 separate buyers.  The highest selling farm of the day fetched what is believed to be an all time high price for Alfalfa County Oklahoma farmland, coming in at $394,000 for 160 acres.

Opening Friday’s auction was “Auction Manger” Eddie Smith giving $1,000 from Hunting Country Real Estate to the local FFA Chapter, which was received by Burlington High School FFA advisor Travis Bradshaw and students of the local high school chapter.  Smith retired last year from the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech after 38 years service in education and serving on the National FFA board of directors.  He recently received a special VIP citation, one of the most prestigious awards given by the National FFA for making significant contributions to agricultural education.  After graduating from Oklahoma State University one of Smith’s first job opportunities was the vocational agriculture instructor and FFA Advisor at Bulington High School

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of 495,046 student members – all preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture – as part of 7,242 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

The auction team of Shawn and Shane Terrel, together with members from Hunting Country’s staff combined their efforts to advocate the best possible scenario for their clients.  Full color brochures, on-line advertising, power-point video presentations, and national multi-media advertising contributed to the auction’s success.

Shawn Terrel, Vice President of the national franchise “United County Auction Services”, together with Shane Terrel, owner of Hunting Country Real Estate & Auction are affiliated with separate real estate marketing companies.  On sale day the Terrel brothers combined their efforts to achieve the best results for the Frances Schupbach Trust.  Visit www.huntingcountry.net for more information.
