High Prairie Station Land Purchased

The deed to the 2.48-acre building site was received October 5, 2007 for our High Prairie Station. The station will be located on Dead Mountain Road approximately 800 feet off High Prairie Road. It will consist of a four parking bay 50’ by 60’ metal building with adjacent 10,000 gallon and 6,000 gallon water storage tanks. October 05, 2011 Permitting Process The District applied for purchase of the site on February 2005 from the Forest Service under the rules of the Townsite Act. The process of acquisition was long and tedious and had to be coordinated within three Lane County permits. During the permitting process, the County required paving of Dead Mountain Road required by their development rules. The estimated cost of paving was $200,000. After special engineering efforts and a meeting with the Lane County Commissioners, a compromise was reached in which the County agreed to widen the road after the completion of the building and apply added gravel with a top triple shot mat surface process. This significantly reduced the $200,000 estimate for the paving to $50,000 for the upgrade with the County doing the work and the District paying one-half of the $50,000 cost.
