Conservancy acquiring 400 acres along French Creek

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy announced Thursday it has acquired "conservation easements" on two wooded parcels totaling about 400 acres along ecologically valuable French Creek and its tributaries in Erie and Venango counties. September 23, 2011 French Creek has the highest level of aquatic biodiversity of any stream its size in Pennsylvania, and the new easements increase the conservancy's protected acreage in the watershed to more than 2,700 acres, said Thomas Saunders, conservancy president and chief executive officer.
