Stroud has fine land conservation program
Source: Pocono Record
July 26, 2007
Editor, the Record:

The residents and taxpayers of that part of Cherry Valley that lies within the jurisdiction of Stroud Township should be attentive to, and in support of, township officials and property owners as they strive to maintain a quality of life the area has known for generations.

Farms no longer being used for that express purpose and large tracts of land have been assigned by owners into conservation easements of one type or another. With the help of congressmen, efforts to establish a National Wildlife Preserve have been initiated. Houses have been built on available land, most being compliant with the rural environment; progress will not be denied.

However, to attempt to subject the valley to inappropriate development and now the unmitigated gall of sleazy operations is unconscionable.

Credit to Stroud Township officials and supporters for the excellent parks and open space network provided for constituents and the general public. To wit: Red's Park on Route 191, a compassionate gesture rarely found among government these days; Community Supported Agriculture on the old Porter farm; access to the Appalachian Trail; ball fields and hiking trails more numerous than can be found in any other municipality of this size.

Add Cherry Valley to the list of places in Stroud Township that provide a glimpse of beauty for those to whom greed and sleaze is unacceptable.
