Land purchase expands Peachtree Rock Preserve

The Nature Conservancy has purchased about 100 acres to add to the Peachtree Rock Preserve in Lexington County, a dose of good news after the spray-painted vandalism of the preserve’s namesake rock formation over the weekend. The newest addition, purchased from a private owner, is on the southeastern edge of the geologically impressive preserve. It extends the mature longleaf pine section of the preserve up on a bluff, opening the possibility to extend and elevate the preserve’s hiking trails.
