Officials buy 500 acres for new business park

Georgetown County has purchased 500 acres of land for the county’s business park, just off Highway 521 near Andrews. December 21, 2011 The news came Tuesday morning, after the county agreed to allow MeadWestvaco to keep the timber rights to the property for five years. The county is paying $1.5 million to MeadWestvaco for the property, but the land is actually worth more, said County Administrator Sel Hemingway.
