Single buyer purchases Howie land up for auction

A single buyer stepped forward Tuesday to purchase all of the nearly 2,500 acres of Pennington County ranch land auctioned by former state Sen. Gordon Howie. Auctioneer Murray Wise said the buyer asked that his identity and the sale price not be revealed Tuesday, but that the buyer intends to use the land for agriculture and not for commercial or residential development there. Wise also said the buyer is not a member of the Howie family. May 18, 2011
