City offers $750000 for industrial land

Several aldermen expressed their concerns Thursday night about the amount of money that would be needed to purchase approximately 50 acres of land for use as an industrial park. October 24, 2011 Mayor Jeff Young had reportedly discussed the proposed purchase of acreage that sits on the southeast corner of McMinnville Highway and Highway 111. After several negotiations, Young said his final offer for the property was $750,000, which he said was authorized by the board. Alderwoman Debbie Sopha said she thought $550,000 was the amount the city had offered for the land. Young said that amount was the original bid.
