Struggle goes on over the fate of a 12.5 acre parcel in Travis County

A wooded tract of land right in the middle of Travis Country continues to be a point of contention between neighbors, the Austin school district and a developer of single family homes. Each has its own designs on the 12.5-acre parcel, which was practically given to the school district for $53,000 by developer Walter Carrington for use as a school site about 40 years ago. It has remained vacant ever since, and now doesn't fit the district's requirements for a school. February 09, 2011
