TPWD buys 3300 acres for future state park

After going 17 years without seeing acquisition of a new state park site, Texans are on the verge of adding a park to the state's inventory for the second time in less than a year. August 28, 2011 The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission on Thursday approved a plan to acquire a 3,300-acre tract in Palo Pinto and Stephen counties and develop the land as a state park. If acquired, the tract, which is near Strawn about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth, would be the second addition to the state park system in the past nine months.
