Wells joins Vermont Land Trust in lakefront property deal

When the Delaney Farm went up for sale, Don Pruess said he pictured a worst-case scenario. “I could just see somebody buying it and sticking 200 double-wides there or something, robbing Wells and Vermont of a beautiful spot,” he said. “Yeah, we’d probably pick up some tax revenue, but probably every house would come with two kids and a dog, so we’d be adding to the school.” So Pruess went to the rest of his board and together they approached the Vermont Land Trust about preserving the 300-acre lakefront property. The partners have reached an agreement to buy the property for $850,000.
