The Canada-based company, which has operations throughout the world, paid $10,000 an acre for the Springfield Farm property in a transaction that closed Wednesday. The property had been owned by a group of investors including Hunter Greenlaw Jr. and Tom Rice.

Last month, Walton bought 355 acres of the adjacent Sherwood Forest Farm from the Silver Cos., also for $10,000 an acre. Walton plans to buy the remainder of the 884-acre Sherwood property by the end of March.
