Bellingham to buy 17 acres on Lake Whatcoms edge for 800000

The city will spend $803,000 to buy and protect property along Lake Whatcom and south of Sudden Valley from development. November 29, 2010 The City Council voted 7-0 last week to purchase the 17.2 acres from the Watts Family Partnership. An appraisal put the property value at more than $1.1 million, so the family essentially accepted less as a $317,000 donation to the city.
