Land swap protects 10300 acres near Ellensburg

A coalition of conservation partners has completed a four-year project to secure wildlife habitat and public access on 10,386 acres of forests in the Cascade about 20 miles east of Ellensburg. The effort concluded with the transfer of the land from Plum Creek to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.The coalition, led by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, completed the Heart of the Cascades project in phases.
