State DNR land purchase benefits county residents

Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon and Council Chairman Dave Somers applauded the Washington State Department of Natural Resources Board’s decision Tuesday to help purchase nearly 2,900 acres near Lake Roesiger for conservation and park purposes. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) agreed Tuesday to buy 2,845 acres, located west of Lake Roesiger between Dubuque Road and Carpenter Road – property that had once been planned for development and will now be open space. June 09, 2011 Last week, Snohomish County agreed to purchase a 200-acre conservation easement on part of that land as well as an additional 40 acres for camping and hiking. The remainder of the DNR land will be managed for timber.
