State buys 80 acres of forestland near Monroe

The state Department of National Resources this week was given approval to buy 80 acres of forestland for $287,000 from private owners. December 13, 2010 “We did not want to see it developed into housing,” spokesman Bob Redling said. The parcel was at high potential for development because of an existing road and utility access. Two houses could have been built on the land, Redling said.
