Whatcom Land Trust buys land along south fork of Nooksack River

The Whatcom Land Trust has bought 80 acres that straddle the south fork of the Nooksack River, where it dips down into Skagit County, and plans to protect the area as habitat for salmon and wildlife. Although the property is in Skagit County, land trust representatives said they've wanted it for years, in part because it was perhaps the best spawning ground for endangered Chinook salmon on the south fork.
