Wildlife land buy proposed in county

A proposal for a state agency to purchase nearly 8,000 acres of private forest lands in Kittitas County is part of the state House of Representative’s capital budget unveiled earlier this week in Olympia. Earmarked in the bipartisan spending plan for capital purchases and construction is $2.75 million for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife to buy the land for what’s called the Heart of the Cascades-Bald Mountain/Rock Creek habitat restoration project, according to a news release from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition.
