County spends $421000 on Sumner land purchase

Barron County currently owns more than 15,000 acres of forest and park land. Earlier this month, supervisors voted in favor of buying another 240 acres in the Town of Sumner. August 29, 2011 The purchase was approved at the Monday, Aug. 15, meeting of the Barron County Board of Supervisors. According to the draft minutes, the county will apply for grant money from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund to offset costs.
