Midwest Farmland Values Continue Big Gains in First Quarter

The value of farmland in the upper Midwest continued to increase in the double-digit percentage points during the first quarter of 2011. According to the latest survey of agricultural lenders in the Seventh Federal Reserve District, farmland values between January through March were up 16 percent from a year ago; and the value of 'good' agricultural land during the three-month period was up five percent from the previous quarter. The figures represent the largest year-over-year boost in values since 2007. May 23, 2011
