Wausau Paper to sell 72,800 acres of Wisconsin timberlands

Wausau Paper Corp. said that its board has authorized the sale of 72,800 acres of timberlands in northern Wisconsin, which would represent the balance of its timberland holdings. October 25, 2011 The Mosinee-based specialty paper and commercial tissue manufacturer has retained LandVest Timberlands, a Boston timber advisory firm, to market and broker the sale of the commercial timberlands, but Wausau Paper said there are no assurances on sale price or whether any deal can in fact occur. Since it began its current timberland sales program in 2005, the company has sold 37,000 acres. Wausau Paper has 7,500 acres remaining to sell under that program.
