Description: The Garmin RINO 130 is a 12-channel, portable global positioning device. Compared to other handheld GPS receivers on the market, it is expensive at around $310.

Pros: Has an SD memory card and SD memory card memory, which is somewhat more favorable than some similarly priced GPS receivers. Also, this GPS receiver Stores 10000 tracklogs, which is more than some similarly priced GPS receivers. By way of comparison, the average cost of a product with this favorable a tracklog is $510. Utilizes WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) technology to achieve of an error margin of 3 meters or less. Serial computer interface makes it possible to add new programs and maps as well as store previous trips and data. Uses a standard SD memory card to store routes and maps. Its removable memory allows for almost unlimited storage of routes and other data. Waterproof receiver stands up to the elements. System includes Garmin marine point database (Americas) and Garmin Americas highway basemap. Built-in barometer lets you keep track of weather changes.

Cons: Is capable of storing 20 routes, which is somewhat less than some similarly priced GPS receivers. For example, the Lowrance Ifinder Hunt Plus , a 12-channel GPS receiver at around $330, is capable of storing 100 routes.

Suitability: For those who need a GPS that can easily be carried or worn. Well-suited for hiking, climbing and backcountry adventures. Rugged case design affords the durability needed in some settings. Built-in altimeter can provide important information for hikers, bikers, and skiers. Has an external antenna which is preferable for situations where open sky is limited. This unit is somewhat heavy, weighing in at 8.3 oz.

Value: Notwithstanding its expensive price, this GPS receiver has good features for the money. Also note this unit is able to store up to 500 waypoints. This is in line with the average GPS device. Device is covered by a 1 year warranty.
