Description: American Westan Elegant Scottsdale Performance Horse Center
Designed by horsemen, American West is owned and operated by a family that has been in the horse business for 40 years. Constructed by Hamilton Construction, with architectural features created by local home builder, Ken Brown, it is surrounded by mountains, glowing water features and flawless landscaping. American West is the home of the most talented and passionate owners, trainers and performance horse leaders.
This 40 acre land mark is complete with multi purpose arenas, 6 training barns, breeding facilities, a 3400 square foot four bedroom residence with a spacious exposed beam design and hand cut iron detail. There is also a four bedroom bunkhouse and apartment to accommodate employees, a complete office and conference room for supportive staff services. Located in the center of the ranch a structure lined with red brick trim, red pavers, many black lanterns, over size oil stained wood beams with hand crafted rock detail and fire pit to keep warm on cool evenings during dinners, complete with a fully furnished kitchen, cowgirls and cowboys bathroom, showers and laundry facilities. And finally, seeded lush green pastures that line the drive way and manicured landscaping surrounding an extensive pond for irrigation.
Engulfed by spectacular sunsets and sunrises, in the rural community of the Rio Verde, just a few minutes from Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Carefree Arizona, the facility is just north of McDowell Mountain Park, west of the Rio Verde River and Four Peaks Mountain Range, and south of the Pine Mountain.
Training barns are constructed with lavish Santa Fe style block wall entrance, a unique thick red brick trim, red pavers, over hang supported by massive exposed hand oiled wood beams with stone and individual black iron strap detail. Red clay roof tiles finish off a stunning tan in color barn, with black iron lanterns and chandeliers for lighting. Barns include wash racks, multiple cross tie areas, secure tackrooms, mist and fly systems, automatic waters, secure feeders, stalls lined with mats, over head lights, complete with removable windows to reduce winter cold air flow and a unique design to encourage summer air circulation.
Each of the 6 arenas are designed with a specific blend of footing and individual depth of material, lighting and above ground furnished seating areas. The 270 foot by 130 foot covered reining arena has a silt footing material installed specifically for reining horses, overhead lights and misting system to keep riders cool. The outdoor reining arena has a similar footing material and customer viewing area. The roping arena is finished with a PA installed system, music and xm radio, drinking fountains, header and heeler boxes, operating priefert fully automatic shoot, a large over hang for sun protection for all participants, pastures and cattle holding pens conveniently designed to move livestock by horseback from one area to another. With two more arenas for cutting and possibly working cow, there are three more holding pens and strategically designed alleyways to move more cattle. A Kiser drag has carefully groomed and watered each arena to insure the safety of our customer and ranch owned horses each day.
An oversized 600 ton, 6 bay hay barn for feed products, bedding materials and equipment storage is on site. A shop with 3 bays to service and secure all equipment and tools is located on the west side of the property.
With a consistent winter waiting list, we have had the honor of servicing such talented industry leading trainers as Tracer Gilson, Randy Paul, Bob Battaglia, Bob Boggs, Speed Williams and many others!!
Working together with Scottsdale finest catering companies, private chefs, and country music artists, while enjoying breath taking evening views, we have had the pleasure and success of hosting many wonderful events such as Rio Verde Horsemens Annual Fall Dinner, private and corporate dinners and events by Event Services of America, as well as NRHA Rookie Day, competitive mounted shooting, team roping and barrel racing events.
From the layout, to the architecture, to arena footing, fencing, stalls, safety, security and performance are our greatest goals.
Simply..there is no other facility designed, build, cared for and located in a more beautiful setting in the southwest.
