Lands of America data records more than $1 billion in farms, ranches and other land for sale in the Cyclone State. The total size of Iowa land for sale is 87,053 acres. Of Iowa's 99 counties, Polk County had the most rural property and land for sale. There were 2,464 acres of sold land in Iowa recorded last month through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a 13 percent increase in sales activity over the month before, with a combined land value of $16 million for all property and land sold in the state. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $16 million. The most land sales in the state last month were located in Appanoose, Monroe County. With its dizzying elevation extreme of a mere 1,190 feet, pancake-flat Iowa's main outdoor attractions are of the horizontal persuasion. Two national scenic byways thread the state, while any number of country roads will take you through a land of farms, covered bridges, and quiet towns. In terms of size, Iowa is the country's 26th-largest state, covering an area of 56,276 square miles (36 million acres).
