Buck Hollow Ranch is the ideal 80 acre parcel for those wanting a great deer hunting property at a reasonable price. This lay down 80 is 1/2 mile wide from east to west and 1/4 mile tall from north to south. It features an impressive topography that includes three steep ridges with two deep hollows sandwiched between. An established trail system makes accessing the property much easier. A written, recorded easement connects the short distance between the southwest corner of this property and EW 155 near the Johnson Chapel church. In addition, a neighbor is willing to sell land so that you would have direct access to the public road.
The two hollows hold water for a period of time after rains while the small pond on the east edge of the property acts as a water source for wildlife throughout the year. The timber is a mixture of oak and hickory, with the trees in the hollows being much larger than most of the ones on the ridges.
Also, the center ridge has a wide, flat top with scattered large trees. Remove the smaller trees between the large one and it would be the ideal location for a food plot beneath the canopy of oaks. An old mobile home sits near the southwest corner of the property.
A trail camera and corn have been placed on the ranch. We will update this listing with photos of the deer from time to time. It is our expectation that there will be some nice trophy bucks on this property given the type of bucks routinely taken in the area.
UPDATE - We did get a lot of small bucks and does on camera, but we were surprised by the number of healthy wild hogs on the property. There is a mixture of long nosed, long tailed, wild hogs that appear to have crossed with Hampshire and other breeds of domestic pigs in the last few generations as you can see some fairly typical breed coloration in the piglets. I was impressed by how healthy and fat they are. Not everyone likes pigs, if you don't then this place isn't for you. If you enjoy shooting pigs in addition to hunting deer, then this 80 acres will probably give you more shooting opportunities than any other. It would be a great place to take kids who get bored easily, as Buck Hollow should give them plenty of wildlife to watch and hunt on a budget that fits your finances.
